[News] New members for the NISE Network of Institutes, Projects and Networks

The network has over the last few months been enlarged with four more institutes: the Herder-Institut (Marburg), the European Center for Minority Issues (ECMI) (Flensburg), An Foras Feasa (Maynooth) and the Dansk Centralbibliotek (Flensburg). This brings the total to 24 institutes, projects or networks from 13 countries.

[News] NISE participates in The Low Countries Conference on Translation and National Images

On 18 November 2011, NISE played host to the morning session of The Low Countries Conference Translation and National Images. The ADVN collection on national movements provided the source for a lecture by University Antwerp researcher Vincent Scheltiens in collaboration with Andreas Stynen (NISE) on Archives and Libraries as Sources for Imagology. [News] Building cultural nations. The matica and equivalent intermediary structures in Europe

A workshop will be organised jointly by CEU, SPIN and NISE at the Central European University in Budapest on 15 and 16 February 2012. The subject is the matica, a particular kind of society established by Slavic national movements in nineteenth century Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, focused on (re)constructing and improving their cultures.
