The NISE database is integrated into ODIS, a database with historical information on Flemish intermediary structures. NISE assists ODIS with realising a new international prototype, retaining however at the same time a specific interface and OPAC of its own.
The labels, input interfaces, search lists and help screens are now being gradually translated into English. They also have been adapted to an international environment. This involves a.o. a reappraisal and adaptation of some of the more context bound authority lists: geographical key-words, political functions, political organs, occupations, decorations and honours, educational levels and legal status.
This, together with the technical complexity of an international and integrated environment, as well as the need for a test entry stage, will put the date for the operationalisation of the NISE database in 2012.
In the meantime, data collected as a result of the Guide to the Archives project being carried out right now within the NISE framework, are already being entered into a provisional database.
